Does this sound familiar?
Starting GLP-1 medication is a significant moment. The decision took thought and perhaps courage, whether it was made to reduce the risk of illness, to improve your health or to change the course of your future. It was a brave step.
And then something happened that nobody warned you about.
You are not hungry the way you used to be. Without that familiar pull of hunger, the days feel oddly unstructured. Mealtimes that used to happen naturally now require a deliberate effort you were not prepared for. You sit at a dinner table with people you love and feel slightly out of step with everything happening around you. Foods that once brought excitement and comfort now taste different, smell different and feel different. You miss the experience of meals in a way that quietly surprises you.
Your daily routine has shifted. The rhythm that used to anchor your morning, your evening and your social life has changed and nothing has quite replaced it yet.
When you look for answers from your GP, your prescriber, a wellness app or an online coach, what you usually find is advice about calories, exercise targets and step counts. What the VELA programme provides is not another target to hit or a rule to follow, but a genuine understanding of what's actually going on in your body and the tools to do something meaningful about it.
That is why the VELA Programme™ was designed and created by a CORU-registered Occupational Therapist. For you. As a unique individual. Learning to build new and meaningful daily routines and a new relationship with your body, your mind and your day.
Introducing The VELA Programme ™
The VELA Programme™ is an eight-week structured programme designed specifically for people on GLP-1 weight loss medication. It was created by Andrea McFeely, a CORU-registered Occupational Therapist with 24 years of clinical experience in sensory processing, nervous system regulation and occupational performance.
Occupational Therapy is the clinical science of how people perform their daily lives. When GLP-1 medication fundamentally changes your appetite, your senses, your social experiences and your daily routines, Occupational Therapy is the clinical discipline that understands exactly what is disrupted and exactly what needs to be rebuilt.
The VELA Programme™ is not a diet plan. It is not a fitness app. It is not generic wellness advice. It is a structured eight-week Occupational Therapy designed programme, grounded in peer-reviewed evidence and 24 years of clinical expertise, that guides you through the occupational transitions your medication creates. The VELA Programme™ is not an Occupational Therapy service and does not constitute individual clinical assessment or treatment.
The VELA Programme™ works through seven clinical stages.
Anchor. Attune. Move. Release. Sense. Restore. Own.
Each stage addresses a specific dimension of daily life that GLP-1 medication disrupts. Together they guide you from where you are now to a daily life that is structured, confident and genuinely your own.
Three ways to experience The VELA Programme™
Choose the pathway that fits your life, your goals and the level of support you want.
Pathway 1 Self Directed €297
The complete eight-week VELA Programme™ delivered entirely through pre-recorded video content, audio practices and written clinical tools. Work through the programme entirely at your own pace, from anywhere in the world, at any time that suits you.
You begin with the VELA Profile™, a guided structured self-assessment designed by a CORU-registered Occupational Therapist and informed by the principles of the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure. You complete it independently. It maps your daily life, your nervous system baseline and your meaningful activities, shaping the programme pathway most relevant to you.
Includes: full eight-week programme content, the VELA Profile™ self-assessment, all VELA clinical tools, daily audio regulation practices, access to the VELA Programme™ peer community and your VELA Life Blueprint™ at programme end.
The VELA Programme™ does not provide individual clinical assessment or personal Occupational Therapy sessions in this pathway.
Pathway 2 Group €997
Everything in the self-directed pathway plus two live group sessions facilitated by a VELA Certified Practitioner.
The first live session takes place at the start of Week 1. It is a VELA Certified Practitioner-led group onboarding session that introduces the VELA Method™ and guides you through the VELA Profile™ self-assessment process.
The second live session takes place at Week 8. It is a VELA Certified Practitioner-led group closing session where participants share their VELA Life Blueprint™ and leave with a complete personal daily life plan.
All programme content between these two sessions is delivered through pre-recorded material and self-directed tools. Groups are a maximum of 20 participants.
Includes: everything in the self-directed pathway plus two live VELA Certified Practitioner-led group sessions.
The VELA Programme™ Group pathway is currently facilitated by Andrea McFeely, CORU-registered Occupational Therapist and founder of the VELA Programme™. As the programme grows, group sessions are facilitated by VELA Certified Practitioners trained and certified directly by Andrea McFeely.
Pathway 3 VIP €1,997
The complete eight-week VELA Programme™ delivered through pre-recorded video content, audio practices and written programme tools, with three individual one-to-one sessions with a VELA Certified Practitioner, built in at key points throughout your eight-week journey.
Session 1 takes place at the beginning of the programme. This is your individual VELA Profile™ session with your VELA Certified Practitioner, conducted one to one online. Your practitioner reviews your daily life, your occupational performance, your nervous system baseline and your personally meaningful activities in depth. Everything that follows in your eight weeks is shaped by this session.
Session 2 takes place at the midpoint of the programme. This is an individual check-in session with your VELA Certified Practitioner who reviews your progress, answers your questions and supports you to focus on what matters most in the second half of your journey.
Session 3 takes place at the end of the programme. This is your individual VELA Life Blueprint™ session with your VELA Certified Practitioner who works with you directly to complete and consolidate your personal daily life plan for everything that comes after the programme ends.
All three sessions are conducted online via video call and are approximately 45 to 60 minutes each.
Includes: the full eight-week pre-recorded VELA Programme™, the VELA Profile™ structured self-assessment, all VELA programme tools, daily audio regulation practices, access to the VELA Programme™ peer community, three individual one-to-one sessions with a VELA Certified Practitioner and your VELA Life Blueprint™.
The VELA Programme™ VIP pathway is currently delivered by Andrea McFeely, CORU-registered Occupational Therapist and founder of the VELA Programme™. As the programme grows, VIP sessions are delivered by VELA Certified Practitioners trained and certified directly by Andrea McFeely.
Build by a CORU Registered Occupational Therapist
My name is Andrea McFeely. I am a CORU-registered Occupational Therapist with 24 years of clinical experience in sensory processing, nervous system regulation, interoception and occupational performance.
I designed and created the VELA Programme™ because the gap between what GLP-1 medication does and what people are supported through was too significant to ignore. Every week I encounter people who have started their medication, who are seeing real results and who are simultaneously struggling with everything the prescription cannot address. The disrupted mealtimes. The social anxiety. The changed relationship with food. The collapsed evening routine. The quiet question of who they are becoming.
These are not medical problems. They are occupational performance challenges. Occupational Therapy is the clinical discipline that has the framework, the tools and the evidence base to address them.
The VELA Programme™ is grounded in the principles of the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure, one of the most extensively validated frameworks in Occupational Therapy research, adapted into a structured self-assessment process designed specifically for the VELA Programme™ context.
The VELA programme integrates a Polyvagal-informed autonomic nervous system framework as a clinical organising lens and draws on 24 years of clinical expertise in sensory processing and occupational performance. It is the programme I wished existed for every person navigating this transition.
I hold formal training in sensory processing and motivational interviewing, which inform the clinical design of the VELA Programme™ at every stage.
Alongside the VELA Programme™ I work as an Assistant Lecturer in Occupational Therapy at Atlantic Technological University in Letterkenny, and as a Service Manager with No Barriers Foundation, which is a registered charity that delivers inclusive activity programmes in community based settings.
If you are a GLP-1 prescriber, clinic director, employer or allied health professional and you would like to discuss how the VELA Programme™ can complement your clinical offering or explore organisational access and licensing arrangements, please contact me at hello@velaprogramme.com.
Questions
Here is the complete FAQ section as one continuous block ready to copy and paste:
Do I need a diagnosis or medical condition to join the VELA Programme™? No. The VELA Programme™ is designed for any adult on GLP-1 weight loss medication regardless of diagnosis, background or health history. If you are on GLP-1 medication and navigating the lifestyle transition it brings, the VELA Programme™ was designed for you.
I am already working with a GP and dietician. Does the VELA Programme™ work alongside my existing care? Yes. The VELA Programme™ is not a medical treatment and does not replace your existing clinical care. It addresses the occupational, sensory and nervous system dimensions of your GLP-1 journey that sit outside the scope of your medical team. It is designed to complement, not replace, any clinical care you are already receiving.
What is the difference between the three pathways? The self-directed pathway at €297 gives you the complete programme delivered through pre-recorded content with no live sessions. The group pathway at €997 adds two live VELA Certified Practitioner-led group sessions at the start and end of the programme. The VIP pathway at €1,997 gives you the complete pre-recorded programme plus three individual one-to-one sessions with a VELA Certified Practitioner at the beginning, midpoint and end of your eight-week journey.
What is the VELA Profile™? The VELA Profile™ is a guided structured self-assessment tool designed by a CORU-registered Occupational Therapist and informed by the principles of the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure, adapted specifically for the VELA Programme™ context. In the self-directed and group pathways you complete it independently using structured guided questions. In the VIP pathway your VELA Certified Practitioner guides you through it individually in a dedicated one-to-one session.
What is VELA BOUNCE™? VELA BOUNCE™ is an optional home-based jumping programme available within the Move stage of all three pathways. It is supported by peer-reviewed evidence on the relationship between high impact exercise and bone mineral density, which is clinically relevant during GLP-1-driven weight loss. GP or physician clearance is required before beginning VELA BOUNCE™. It is not suitable for everyone and a low-impact alternative is provided for those for whom jumping is contraindicated.
I have only just started my medication. Is it too early to join the VELA Programme™? The VELA Programme™ is most effective when started at or near the beginning of your GLP-1 journey. Starting early means you build your daily life infrastructure alongside your medication from the outset, which supports better adherence and more sustainable outcomes over time.
When does the VELA Programme™ launch and what does it cost? The VELA Programme™ launches in 2026. Three pathways are available at €297, €997 and €1,997. Waitlist members will receive early access and founding member pricing across all three pathways before the programme opens to the public. Joining the waitlist is completely free and carries no obligation.
Is the VELA Programme™ delivered online? Yes. The VELA Programme™ is delivered entirely online. Pre-recorded content is accessible at any time from any device. Live group and individual sessions are conducted via video call. The programme is accessible from anywhere in the world.
Is the VELA Programme™ suitable if I do not like exercise? Yes. Movement within the VELA Programme™ is chosen by you and matched to what is personally meaningful. Nobody is asked to follow a fitness programme they did not choose. Whether you prefer gentle walking, yoga, strength training, dance or any other activity, your movement plan is built around your own preferences and current capacity.
Your medication is the beginning. VELA is what comes next.
Join the waitlist today and be among the first to access the VELA Programme™ when it opens in 2026. No cost to join. No obligation. Just early access to the structured occupational performance programme your prescription cannot provide, designed by a CORU-registered Occupational Therapist who understands exactly what you are navigating.
Waitlist members receive founding member pricing across all three pathways. That means you pay less than everyone else, simply for believing in this before the doors opened.
